Yesterday it was arranged a press-conference at the International Press Centre by the Norwegian Ecological Organization "Bellona" , presenting their new report "The Russian Northern fleet – Sources of radioactive contamination". A leading expert from Minatom (the Russian Ministry of Nuclear Energy) Vyatsheslav Perovskiy, who has been a consulting author of the report , described it as "the first attempt to give an objective overview of the situation at the Northern Fleet". The ecologists are not interested in the Russian Nuclear Fleet as such, but as the potensional threat it represents for the people´s health and the environment because of it´s present technical condition.
The organizators of the press-conference expressed their fears of the possible classifying of the presented information and were expressing their hopes for this question , as well as the Nikitin- case, to be discussed at the forthcoming nuclear safety summit. .
