St. Petersburg branch of the FSB arrested Alexandr Nikitin, captain of 1st degree. The former marine officer is accused of high treason by espionage, in accordance with paragraph 64 A of Russian Criminal Law. Investigations have disclosed that Alexandr Nikitin through his contact with Environmental Foundation Bellona has delivered to Bellona secret and top secret material concerning Russias nuclear fueled fleet for payment. In this he used his contacts among marine officers. The illegal activities Nikitin is accused of are beyond the scope of what an environmental organisation should be concerned with, and is provoking our countries defence ability. The case is placed under the investigative branch of FSB in St. Petersburg. Nikitin is held in (isolated) custody at the FSB at Liteynly 4.
