Presnya Court postpones considering Bellona’s complaint against Russian Ministry of Defence

Today Presnya district court of Moscow for the fourth time postponed considering Bellona’s complaint against Russian Ministry of Defence, which refuses to declassify data about accidents aboard Soviet nuclear submarines.

This time the session was postponed because the documents of the representatives of the Defence Ministry weren’t filled in correctly. The previous session in November was put off because of illness of the judge, and two other sessions had been postponed because the Defence Ministry representatives failed to show up in the court.
The new date for the complaint to be considered is February, 16th.

In the midst of a global discussion on whether natural gas should be used as a transitional fuel and whether emissions from its extraction, production, transport and use are significantly less than those from other fossil fuels, Russia has developed ambitious plans to increase its own production of liquified natural gas (LNG) in the Arctic – a region with 75% of proven gas reserves in Russia – to raise its share in the international gas trade.
