Russian prosecutor’s office prepares charges against Mayak plant chief

The Russian prosecutor’s office intends to go till the very end with the case of Mayak plant general director Vitaly Sadovnikov, said the deputy general prosecutor in Ural Federal County Yury Zolotov, RIA-Novosti reported.

“Sadovnikov appealed the decision of the Chelyabinsk Region Court, which allowed the prosecutor’s office to launch the criminal case against him, in the Russian Supreme Court” Zolotov said. After the Supreme Court’s verdict he promised to continue legal actions. According to the prosecutor’s office, the significant increase of radiation levels in Techa river near the Mayak plant were registered in 2001.
