Norwegian company rents Murmanskaya oil well rig

Publish date: March 29, 2006

The Federal Subsoil Use Agency, or Rosnedra, allowed state company Arcticmorneftegasrazvedka (AMNGR) to lease oil well rig Murmanskaya to Norwegian company Beta Drilling AS for three years.

Arcticshelfneftegaz company is very negative to this decision, RusEnergy reported. The company is a partner of AMNGR in development of Medynskoe-Varandey and Kolokolmorskogo shelf fields. Arcticshelfneftegaz plans to apply to the Russian Ministry with request to return the oil well rig, as the company needs it for its operation, otherwise it will have to lease oil well rig from foreign companies. Arcticshelfneftegaz needs an oil well rig this year. Without this oil well rig this company might cancel the dates of operation on Medynskoe field.
