Two more oil spills in Komi Republic

In less than 24 hours, two oil spills were registered in the city of Ukhta (Komi Republic) on April 18.

According to the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, a leak in a pipeline resulted in a spill close to an abandoned factory, and that parts of the oil ran into the Ukhta river. The other leak stemmed from oil tanks belonging to a local machine building company, BarentsObserver reported. More than 20 people are working on the cleanup of the river and its shore. The polluted territory is about 400 square metres.
