Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is a set of technologies that capture CO2 emissions at source point, transport them to storage sites, and store them underground. It helps mitigate climate change by reducing emissions in heavy industries, preventing CO2 from entering the atmosphere and causing further global warming.
CCS is crucial for “hard-to-abate” sectors like cement, steel, and chemical manufacturing. It allows these industries to capture and store a portion of their CO2 emissions that cannot be reduced through other means. By facilitating industrial decarbonisation, CCS plays a significant role in transitioning to a net-zero economy.
