Statoil to submit Shtokman offer by February 24

Norwegian Statoil to submit Shtokman offer to a Russian major Gasprom by February 24.

Senior vice-president of Statoil Henrik Karlsen did not reveal the content of the final offer. According to him, Gasprom “will most probably make its decision about Shtokman partners in the end of March”. Statoil claims 25% of Shtokman project, Interfax reported.


A vice president of Norwegian Hydro Bengt Hansen reported that Hydro intends to claim 20% of Shtokman and wants to participate in the whole project chain. He did not detail the dates of the final offer to Gasprom. He mentioned that Hydro works with Gasprom according to the dates, established by the Russian company.


Shtokman gas condensate field is one of the largest gas fields in the world. The field is prepared for development according further deliver its liquid gas to the USA and other countries. The field’s reserves stand for 3.2 billion m3 of gas and 31 million of gas condensate. Recently Shtokman gas reserves were re-estimated 10% larger.
