Zvezdochka plant to become service centre for Russian navy

Publish date: August 24, 2004

Russian PM Mikhail Fradkov stated new strategy priorities for the plant during his visit to Zvezdochka in the middle of July, Regnum reported.

The plant should become a service centre facility on repair, modernisation, upgrade and technical support of the Russian navy ships as well as the navy ships produced in Russia for other countries. Zvezdochka has all the conditions for that including the right for independent signing contracts with the foreign partners concerning spare parts deliveries, repair and service works on the diesel submarines of 877 EKM, 641, 636 type. The plant also received the right to the service maintenance of the project 11356 frigates built at the Baltiysky shipyard for the Indian navy.

All these results of the Russian PM’s visit should be considered preliminary as the official document on the Russian navy strategy is to be published only by December this year.
