Canada will sponsor the dismantlement of this multipurpose nuclear submarine, the shipyards press secretary Natalya Scherbinina told ITAR-TASS. The navy tugged the submarine to the shipyard. The shipyard is soon expecting the second Canadian submarine. Total three submarines will be scrapped with the help of Canada in the frames of the Global Partnership program signed by G8 countries in 2002. Canada allocates total $18m for dismantling of all three submarines.
Besides, the French delegation visited Zvezdochka in the end of September. The representatives of the group Technicatom examined the necessity for reconstruction of the facility for low-level radioactive waste burning. The document on further co-operation was signed as a result of the visit. The French party is ready to sign a contract with Zvezdochka on reconstruction of this facility immediately after the agreement on technical assistance between Russia and France is signed.
