France to pump €400 million over four years into the development of electric and hybrid transport
France will invest €400 million into the development of “ecologically clean” transport, said French President Nicolas Sakozy at a press conference following a visit to the Paris International Automobile Salon this week.
“France is coming to the realisation of a large scale research and support plan for the production of automobiles that do not use carbon-based fuel,” he told reporters. “ That is, totally electric or hybrid engines.”
To make this programme a reality, France will pump €400 million over the next four years into it. According to Sarkozy, the funding is already accessible within the framework of a national ecological programme.
