Documents of the feasibility study of the project “Pipe line system “Eastern Siberia – the Pacific Ocean. The first start up complex” does not correspond with requirements of the Russian legislation. According to the Russian Ministry of Environment, the feasibility study of the project is already submitted to the Federal service of environmental, technological and nuclear control (Rostekhnadzor) for the state environmental expertise.
The main problem of the project is a route of the oil pipe line near Baikal lake. The study shows that the route of the oil pipe line locates in 800 metres from Baikals shore. Ministry of Environment states that any route of the pipe line near Baikal lake can destroy its ecosystem if any accident occurs. The closer to the shore the accident occurs, the higher the environmental risks are.
