Wind

Wind power refers to the extraction of energy from wind. Modern wind power is converted into electricity by converting the rotation of turbine blades into electrical current by an electrical generator. In traditional windmills wind energy is used to turn mechanical machinery to do physical work. Wind energy is inexhaustible, clean and mitigates the greenhouse effect. Wind power can be extracted large scale in wind farms and small scale for providing electricity in isolated areas.

Let’s work together!

Bellona recognised early on that neither the environmental organisations nor the government alone could drive forward solutions to the environmental challenges we’re facing. We are dependent on the industry increasingly understanding the consequences of their presence, and Bellona is working hard for companies to be prepared to tackle the environmental challenges.
