Nikitin receives highly respected US Science Award

Publish date: January 22, 1999

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) will Saturday give their annual Science and Human Rights award to Alexandr Nikitin. The ceremony honoring Nikitin takes place at the AAAS Sixth Annual meeting in Anaheim, California. Nikitin cannot personally receive the price, because of his travel restrictions from St. Petersburg.

Alexandr Nikitin will therefore thank the audience at the ceremony through a pre-taped video. Thomas Nilsen, co-author of Bellona’s Northern Fleet report, which led to the charges against Mr. Nikitin, will participate at the ceremony on his behalf. More than 5,000 scientists from all over US are present at the AAAS annual meeting.
