Publish date: August 17, 2006

The way oil companies, operating in Nenets autonomous region, follow environmental legislation is to be checked by the end of this year.

Two oil companies – Total and Lukoil-North have already been audited. The Total Company was criticized for non-operative purification facilities and polluted waters discharges. The company will reconstruct cleaning facilities in 2007.

According to chief of environmental control department of Natural resources and environment Board of Nenets region Ludmila Rocheva, many other companies will be checked as well.
