On the evening before the launch, Bellona invites you to a celebratory networking drink in Oslo, as we mark a historic milestone in Europe’s climate journey.

This June, Europe will achieve a major climate milestone as the Northern Lights project stores the first tonne of CO₂ captured from the cement industry – a breakthrough for full-chain carbon capture and storage (CCS) in one of the hardest-to-abate sectors.

This marks the transition of CCS from concept to reality, proving its critical role in Europe’s climate toolkit. For over 30 years, Bellona has been advocating for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) to decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors. Through tireless advocacy, research, and collaboration, we’re proud to have helped shape the vision behind Norway’s Longship Project.
