About the job 

As part of Bellona Europa’s further expansion, we are looking for a Finance & Administration Analyst / Officer to support the financial management of the organisation, its accounting and office operations. The ideal candidate would need to demonstrate sound knowledge of financial, fiscal and administrative processes and have a keen eye for detail, ideally coming from a non-profit environment. The selected candidate will report to our HR and Administration Manager. 

We are looking for a person who is passionate about numbers, extremely well organised and proactive, motivated to ensure continuous improvement and optimisation of our systems/processes, as we grow. The person needs to be driven to propose and implement change, streamlining financial and administrative operations. 

The ideal candidate will have:  

  • A degree in accounting or equivalent 
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a financial role 
  • Good knowledge of accounting and payment systems, as well as financial reporting 
  • Knowledge of NGO funding and grants is considered as a plus 
  • Experience and confidence in working with MS Office, especially Microsoft Excel 
  • Experience with accounting/finance tools such as Yuki is a plus 
  • Outstanding organisational and prioritisation skills, with focus on accuracy and attention to detail  
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to suggest improvements to workflows and processes 
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of other EU languages would be considered an asset.  
  • Eligible to work and reside in Belgium  

 Key responsibilities:  

  • General accounting and bookkeeping 
  • Draft and assist with budget preparation and updates, financial reports and audits 
  • Process invoices, project-related expenses and staff claims 
  • Monitor, track and report on financial aspects of our NGO’s projects and grants 
  • Contribute to the improvement of accounting and project/grant administrative processes 
  • Support the HR and Administration Manager with payroll 
  • Ad-hoc financial, fiscal and administrative support
       

You can expect a meaningful and engaging experience with an initial one-year Belgian employee agreement, with possibility of extension – starting as soon as possible. We are open to a full-time position or an 80% part-time, to be agreed.
