USA-CHINA: CO2 Capture costs worth paying

According to U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu, capturing CO2 emissions from the Chinese coal-fired power sector is worth the costs.

Costs to capture CO2 are modest when compared to environmental costs stemming from inaction and continuation of current practices.

Trough the recently established U.S.-China Joint Clean Energy Research Center, the United States is intending to work closely with China on carbon capture technology development. China has currently a CCS demonstration plant in suburban Beijing, two more are being established in Shanghai and Erdos, Inner Mongolia.
