Parliament to vote on CCS projects in the economic recovery plan

BRUSSELS – The European Parliament has adopted, in plenary session the 6th May 2009, the important financing for carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects in the European Union economic recovery package.

The European Commission proposed in January 2009 to contribute €1.05 billion euro of its crisis package for CCS projects. The economic recovery package has set aside a total of €3.98 billion euro on energy infrastructure projects to meet the challenge of European energy dependence.

The role of CCS in Germany’s climate toolbox: Bellona Deutschland’s statement in the Association Hearing

After years of inaction, Germany is working on its Carbon Management Strategy to resolve how CCS can play a role in climate action in industry. At the end of February, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action published first key points and a proposal to amend the law Kohlenstoffdioxid Speicherungsgesetz (KSpG). Bellona Deutschland, who was actively involved in the previous stakeholder dialogue submitted a statement in the association hearing.
