Scottish Enterprise, a government agency, is working on a Scottish CCS Cluster Investment Plan, to build on the Scottish Government CCS roadmap from early 2010. The underground Scottish area of the North Sea actually has indeed a greater potential storage capacity than the Netherlands, Denmark and Germany combined.

The objective of the ongoing study, which will inform a future national Scottish CCS plan, is to optimize the exploitation of Scottish CO2 storage potential. Scottish Enterprise believes the creation of a CCS industry is a great economic opportunity, which can create thousands of jobs.

The findings of the Scottish CCS Cluster Investment Plan study are expected to be published by the end of 2010.
