According to the contract agreed between DNV and the Czech environment ministry, “a compliance assessment compared to the BREFs [document specifying best available techniques – BATs] on energy efficiency and large combustion plants including an evaluation of local conditions that could justify deviations” will be undertaken.
A claim put forward by Micronesia has drawn attention to the plant, as the island State argued that emissions from the plant would contribute to rising sea levels and other climate change effects which affect small island developing states disproportionately.
