The recipient of the $640 award was decided by the party board meeting on 23-24 January. In its own words, the party "honours Mr. Nikitin for his courageous and selfless deed to disclose illegal nuclear waste dumping by the Russian Northern Fleet – even at the risk of losing his freedom."
The Green Party Sweden hopes to have Nikitin attending its Congress in February or May to receive the award. With the upcoming Russian Supreme Court hearing only a week away, this just might happen.
