137 million euro granted for CCS in Poland

– This is very significant and great news for the development of CCS in Poland and Europe, says Eivind Hoff, Director of Bellona Europa.

The Bellona Foundation has been working closely with the development of CCS in Poland. In March, Bellona opened an office in Krakow. The organisation has also made the study Ensuring Energy Independence – A CCS Roadmap for Poland”, published 24th March.

The plan is to fit 250 MW of the 858 MW new coal fired unit at the Bełchatów power plant for CCS, using an amines based capture technology. It has already been awarded €180 million from the EEPR. It is also a candidate for the CCS funding mechanism NER 300.
