CIUDEN takes further step in constructing carbon dioxide capture plant

Publish date: January 7, 2011

The construction of the carbon dioxide capture plant in the locality of Cubillo del Sil (León) comes to an end with the engineering and construction of the Carbon Dioxide Compression and Purification Unit.

The new CO₂ Capture Unit will have state-of-the-art technology in cryogenic distillation, developed by the European multinational company Air Liquide, to process the carbon dioxide produced by the experimental installation before their transport and subsequent storage.

The EUR9 million contract has been awarded to Isolux Corsán, a multinational company in construction, energy, awarding and industrial services, in a bidding process.

The advancement of the project is seen as a further step towards the commercialization of CCS technology in the European Union.
