• A revision of the directive on the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS)
• A new directive on geological storage of CO2
• A new decision on effort-sharing between Member States for emission reduction targets in sectors not covered by the ETS
• A new directive with national targets for increasing the share of renewable energy
• A new directive reducing CO2 emissions from cars
• A revision of the regulation on fuel quality to reducing emissions from car fuels
For many of these legislative acts, crucial details remain to be decided through so-called comitology procedures by the European Commission with the assistance of representatives of the Member States. This set-aside was a key success for Bellona in the EU climate and energy package.
Details of the Commission’s follow-up including the various deadlines contained in the directives can be found in the document to the right.
