The Global CCS Institute (GCCSI) has during the last month released two new reports from the South West Hub CCS project in Western Australia. The Hub aims to store up to 3.3 million tonnes of CO2 per year from industry facilities and coal power plants in the surrounding region and has been shortlisted by the Australian government’s CCS Flagships Programme.
The first report, A tale of two projects, focuses on the South West Hub CCS project as well as the Gorgon LNG Project, which is the other CCS project currently developed in Western Australia. The reports have been developed with the Western Australian and Australian governments and serves as a general introduction to the two projects.
The second project, GSWA Lower Lesueur 2d seismic survey, deals only with storage and focuses on the South West Hub. Completed by Schlumberger, it is of a technical nature and involves a 2D seismic survey examining the suitability of the area in question for CO2 storage.
